Life and register readings
The life of Mehmet Raşit Efendi began in Giresun in 1837/38 (AH 1253). The personnel record dates the first work in Istanbul to 1870/71, after the first annual entry. The first annual entry, for 1867/68, places Mehmet Raşit in Istanbul as Görevin sona ermesi, where the entries run to 1870/71. The lists have no entry for 1868 to 1870 and 1871 to 1874. Mehmet Raşit then moved to Medina in 1874/75, then back to Istanbul from 1878 to 1887. For 1875 to 1878 and 1881 to 1886 the lists have no entry. The last entry, for 1888/89, names Mehmet Raşit as Müsevvid, with no place. The lists have no entry for 1889 to 1898. In place of a title the lists give Vefat (death) for 1898/99.
