Life and register readings
Mustafa Zühdü Efendi was born in Safranbolu in 1873/74 (AH 1290) into the İslam community; the father's occupation was "eimme (imam)". Work began in 1886/87, at about 14. The annual lists begin in 1886/87, with Mustafa Zühdü as telgraf mülazımı and no place named. For 1887 to 1896 the lists have no entry. Next came Ioannina (Yanya) and Skopje (Üsküp) from 1896 to 1900. At the same time, from 1899 to 1907, the lists also place Mustafa Zühdü in a post with no place named as telgraf ve posta merkezi müdürü.
Pay rose from 300 kuruş a month in 1896/97 to a peak of 600 in 1899/1900, when two in three paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1906/07.
