Life and register readings
Mehmet Fuat Bey was born in Sivas in 1878 (AH 1295). At about 16, in 1893/94, Mehmet Fuat began work in Sivas, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1893/94, with Mehmet Fuat as polis neferi in Sivas, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1897/98. For 1898 to 1908 the lists have no entry. Mehmet Fuat then moved to Niksar from 1910 to 1911. Alongside, the lists for 1911 give a second post, in Zile as kaymakam vekili (Görevin sona ermesi). In place of a title the lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1897/98.
The salary went from 300 kuruş a month in 1893/94 to 800 in 1908/09, the peak, as Nahiye Muduru, when 70 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1911.
