Life and register readings
The life of MUSTAFA ŞEVKİ EFENDİ began in Shkodër (İşkodra) in 1831/32 (AH 1247). Work began in Cayagzi in 1862/63, at about 31, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1862/63, places MUSTAFA ŞEVKİ in Cayagzi as Rüsûmat idaresi tezkere muharriri, where the entries run to 1866/67. At the same time, from 1866 to 1869, the lists also place MUSTAFA ŞEVKİ in Lezhë (Leş) as a customs official (Rüsumat Memuru). Alongside, the lists for 1868 to 1875 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Rüsumat Memuru, with a rise to Memlaha sandık emini in 1872/73. Alongside, the lists for 1874 to 1880 give a second post, in Shkodër as Rüsûmat nezareti sandık emini. Alongside, the lists for 1879 to 1882 give a second post, in Lezhë as Rüsumat Memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1881 to 1883 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Rüsumat Memuru.
The salary went from 400 kuruş a month in 1862/63 to 460 in 1874/75, the peak, in Shkodër, when 51 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over 22 years pay ended below where it began, 300 kuruş against 400. The final annual entry is for 1882/83.
