Life and register readings
Mehmed Salih Efendi was born in Mecca (Mekke) in 1851/52 (AH 1268). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). Work began in 1866/67, at about 15. The annual lists begin in 1866/67, with Mehmed Salih as Hicaz Vilayeti Muhasebe Kalemi mülazımı and no place named. Alongside, the lists for 1873 to 1879 give a second post, in Jeddah as Cidde Sancağı sandık emini. For 1879 to 1891 the lists have no entry. The last entry, for 1891/92, names Mehmed Salih as Tekaüt, with no place.
