Life and register readings
Born in Mecca (Mekke) in 1850/51 (AH 1267), Hüseyin Safî Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in 1868/69, at about 17. The annual lists begin in 1868/69, with Hüseyin Safî as Vilayet muhasebe kalemi mülazımı and no place named. At the same time, from 1880 to 1886, the lists also place Hüseyin Safî in Taiz as Aşar ve ağnam müdüriyeti başkâtibi. The last entries, from 1886 to 1890, name Hüseyin Safî as Belediye reisi, with no place.
