Life and register readings
Born in Kirkuk (Kerkük) in 1878/79 (AH 1296), MUHİETTİN KABİL EFENDİ was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). MUHİETTİN KABİL began work in 1893/94, at about 15. The first annual entry, for 1893/94, names MUHİETTİN KABİL as telgraf mülazımı, with no place. For 1894 to 1901 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1901 to 1906 give a second post, in Kirkuk as a postal official (Posta Memuru). Alongside, the lists for 1905/06 give a second post, in a post with no place named as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru).
Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1901/02 to a peak of 380 in 1905/06, as Muhabere Memuru, when 40 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, five years of salary come to 16,560 kuruş, 67 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The final annual entry is for 1905/06.
