Life#
Abdullah Fikri Efendi was born in Bilecik in 1845 (AH 1261), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took four years, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Abdullah Fikri began work in Medina (Medine) in 1884/85, at about 40, paid from the start, on 500 kuruş a month. Of the 5,128 officials whose age at first work is known, 40 started at 40 or older. Every annual entry from 1884/85 to 1904/05 places Abdullah Fikri in the same post, postal official (Posta Memuru), in Medina. Of the 1,586 officials whose entries span 20 years or more, 41 kept one title in one place throughout.
