Life#
Born in Biga in 1856/57 (AH 1273), Hüseyin Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was an imam. Hüseyin had four years of schooling, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in 1878, at about 21, paid from the start, on 250 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1884/85, with Hüseyin as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Vize, where the entries run to 1886/87. The last post was in Erzincan in 1887/88.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 400 kuruş a month in 1884/85, as Muhabere Memuru in Vize, when 27 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1887/88. Hüseyin probably has an entry in "Sicill-i Ahval Defterlerine göre Bigalı devlet adamları" by AHMET TUNCEL (2019) (the name, the birthplace and the archive register and second number agree).
