Life and register readings

The life of Yakup Hamdi Bey began in Sivas in 1851/52 (AH 1268). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). At about 19, in 1871/72, Yakup Hamdi began work in Tokat, on a first salary of 250 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1871/72, places Yakup Hamdi in Tokat as Boyahane memuru (emaneten idare).
