Life and register readings
The life of MUHAMMED EMİN EFENDİ began in Kirkuk (Kerkük) in 1866/67 (AH 1283). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in 1876/77, at about 10. Few began so young; 47 of the 5,664 officials whose age at first work is known started at 10 or younger. The first annual entry, for 1876/77, places MUHAMMED EMİN in Kirkuk, the birthplace, as muhasebe kalemi mülazımı. The lists have no entry for 1877 to 1879. Next came Hillah (Hille) from 1879 to 1886. At the same time, from 1884 to 1890, the lists also place MUHAMMED EMİN in a post with no place named as nahiye katibi. For 1887 to 1889 the lists have no entry. The last post was in Mosul (Musul) in 1890/91.
