Life#
Born in Prilep (Pirlepe) in 1876/77 (AH 1293), Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Work began in Bitola (Manastır) in 1896/97, at about 20, with six unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 250 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1902/03, with Hüseyin Hüsnü as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Strumica (Ustrumca). From 1904 to 1906 the annual entries place Hüseyin Hüsnü in Debrei bala.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 250 kuruş a month in 1902/03, as Muhabere Memuru in Strumica, when 15 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, four years of salary come to 12,000 kuruş, 52 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1905/06.
