Life and register readings
Osman Nuri Efendi was born in Varna in 1836/37 (AH 1252); the father's occupation was "Bakkal". The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Osman Nuri began work in Varna in 1849/50, at about 14. The annual lists begin in 1849/50, with Osman Nuri as Tahrirat Kalemi mülazımı in Varna, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1852/53. The last entries, from 1853 to 1897, name Osman Nuri as Askerlik (Askerlik nedeniyle ara), with no place. For 1854 to 1887 the lists have no entry. The lists give Infisal for 1887/88 and İstifa (resignation) for 1896/97 instead of a title.
