Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1856/57 (AH 1273), Mustafa Cemal Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a postal official (posta memuru). Schooling took four years, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in Istanbul in 1882/83, at about 26, paid from the start, on 500 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1882/83 to 1905/06 places Mustafa Cemal in the same post, Matbaa Memuru, in Istanbul, the birthplace.
