Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1876/77 (AH 1293), Tevfik Ziya Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father's occupation was "Konduktor". Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Tevfik Ziya also wrote French as well as Turkish.
Work began in Veliko Tarnovo (Tırnova) in 1903/04, at about 27, paid from the start, on 250 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1903/04, with Tevfik Ziya as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Malko Tarnovo (Tırnovacık). The last posts were in Istanbul in 1905/06 and Samatya in 1906/07 and Hadımköy in 1907/08.
