Life#
Mehmet Salih Efendi was born in Florina in 1876/77 (AH 1293) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 20, in 1896/97, Mehmet Salih began work in Dolasdir, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1896/97, with Mehmet Salih as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Dolasirdir. For 1897 to 1901 the lists have no entry.
