Life#
Born in Şebinkarahisar (Karahisar-ı Şarki) in 1876/77 (AH 1293), Aziz İhsan Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a merchant (tüccar). Aziz İhsan had 12 years of schooling, at Darüşşafaka, the school for orphans in Istanbul, attended the telegraph school as well, wrote French as well as Turkish, and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 20, in 1896/97, Aziz İhsan began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 400 kuruş a month. From 1896/97 to 1906/07 every annual entry places Aziz İhsan in Istanbul, first in the correspondence office (Tahrirat Kalemi), from 1898/99 in the Deavi Kalemi and from 1900/01 in the Hukuk Kalemi.
Pay rose from 400 kuruş a month in 1896/97 to a peak of 500 in 1902/03, in the Hukuk Kalemi in Istanbul, when half the paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1906/07.
