Life#
Born in Italya in 1868/69 (AH 1285), Mühtedi Ahmed Tevfik Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at the Italyan Mektebi; Ahmed Tevfik also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration). Ahmed Tevfik knew five languages, Arabic, French, Greek (Rum), Italian and Turkish, all in writing, a number reached by fewer than 2 per cent of the 5,211 officials. Of the 5,146 officials with a school, 3 studied at Italyan Mektebi.
