Life#
Ali Haydar Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1882/83 (AH 1300), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, and the father's occupation was "Mektupcu". Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ali Haydar also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Ali Haydar began work in Istanbul in 1902/03, at about 19, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 100 kuruş.
