Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1882/83 (AH 1300) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Ali Kudret Efendi was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ali Kudret also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Ali Kudret began work in Istanbul in 1905/06, at about 22, paid from the start, on 50 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1905/06 to 1907/08 places Ali Kudret in the same office, office of the corresponding secretary (Mektubi Kalemi), in Istanbul, the birthplace.
