Life#
Born in Hillah (Hille) in 1882/83 (AH 1300), Ahmet Mazhar Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ahmet Mazhar also wrote Arabic as well as Turkish and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Ahmet Mazhar began work in Hillah in 1904/05, at about 21, paid from the start, on 80 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1904/05, with Ahmet Mazhar as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Hillah, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1907/08.
