Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Mustafa Kemal Bey came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Mustafa Kemal was taught by a private teacher.
At about 21, in 1896/97, Mustafa Kemal began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1896/97, with Mustafa Kemal as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Istanbul, the birthplace. Next came Edirne and Kastamonu from 1898 to 1901, then Aydın from 1901 to 1906. The last post was in Istanbul again in 1906/07.
