Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1875/76 (AH 1292) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Ahmet Hamdi was the child of an imam. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ahmet Hamdi also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 19, in 1894/95, Ahmet Hamdi began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 50 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1894/95 to 1903/04 places Ahmet Hamdi in the same office, documents office (Evrak Kalemi), in Istanbul, the birthplace.
