Life#
Viktor Maksim Efendi was born in Kalas in 1881/82 (AH 1299) into the Latin Catholic (Latin) community; the father's occupation was "Bassehdenber". Schooling took four years, at a community school (Millet Mektebi); Viktor Maksim also wrote French as well as Turkish and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Istanbul in 1903/04, at about 21, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1903/04 to 1905/06 places Viktor Maksim in the same office, Mesalihi Kalemi, in Istanbul.
