Life#
Hasan Zühtü Efendi was born in Van in 1861/62 (AH 1278), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Work began in the Muhasebe Kalemi in Hakkâri in 1883/84, at about 22, paid from the start, on 225 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1883/84, with Hasan Zühtü in the accounts office (Muhasebe Kalemi) in Hakkâri. Next came Semdiye, Imdadiye, Mosul (Musul) and Erciş, four places in 11 years, with a rise to communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in 1893/94, then Bitlis from 1895 to 1901. For 1885 to 1890 the lists have no entry. The last posts were in Malazgirt from 1901 to 1904, with a rise to director of the third grade (3. Müdür) in 1903/04.
