Life#
Mehmet Ali Efendi was born in Kemaliye (Eğin) in 1875/76 (AH 1292) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a farmer (çiftçi). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Mehmet Ali began work in Kemaliye in 1896/97, at about 21, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1896/97, places Mehmet Ali in Kemaliye, the birthplace, as Musillik, where the entries run to 1908/09. The last post was in Şehzadebaşı in 1909/10, with a rise to communications official (Muhabere Memuru).
