Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1882/83 (AH 1300) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Mehmet Nizameddin Bey was the child of a director (müdür). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Mehmet Nizameddin also wrote French as well as Turkish.
Work began in Istanbul in 1906/07, at about 23, paid from the start, on 100 kuruş a month. Both annual entries, for 1906/07 and 1907/08, place Mehmet Nizameddin in Istanbul, the birthplace, as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru).
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 130 kuruş a month in 1906/07, as Muhabere Memuru in Istanbul, when 5 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1907/08.
