Life#
Born in Kumanovo (Kumanova) in 1886/87 (AH 1304), Mehmet Ramiz Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Mehmet Ramiz also wrote French and spoke Bulgarian.
Mehmet Ramiz began work in Skopje (Üsküp) in 1901/02, at about 15, paid from the start, on 150 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1901/02, with Mehmet Ramiz as a deliverer (Müvezzi) in Skopje. Next came Štip in 1902/03. The last posts were in Skopje again from 1903 to 1907, with a rise to communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in 1906/07.
Pay rose from 150 kuruş a month in 1901/02 to a peak of 400 in 1906/07, as Muhabere Memuru in Skopje, when 39 per cent of paid officials earned less.
