Life#
Born in Bosna in 1872/73 (AH 1289), Osman Nuri Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Osman Nuri had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Work began in Istanbul in 1896/97, at about 24, paid from the start, on 350 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1896/97 to 1905/06 places Osman Nuri in Galata, first as Damga Memuru, from 1900/01 as Veznadar.
