Life#
Born in Aksaray in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Mehmet Ali Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Mehmet Ali began work in Aksaray in 1889/90, at about 15, with six unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 200 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1895/96, with Mehmet Ali as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Aksaray, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1900/01. Mehmet Ali then moved to Burdur in 1901/02. The last posts were in Konya from 1902 to 1906.
