Life#
Born in Gebze in 1880/81 (AH 1298), Abdullah Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father's occupation was "Amele". Abdullah had 12 years of schooling, at Darüşşafaka, the school for orphans in Istanbul, attended the telegraph school as well, and wrote French as well as Turkish.
Work began in Galata in 1905/06, at about 24, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. Both annual entries, for 1905/06 and 1906/07, place Abdullah in Galata as a letters official (Mekâtib Memuru).
