Life#
Born in Ioannina (Yanya) in 1878/79 (AH 1296) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Mustafa Asım Efendi was the child of a teacher (muallim). Mustafa Asım had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 17, in 1896/97, Mustafa Asım began work in Ioannina, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1896/97, places Mustafa Asım in Ioannina, the birthplace, as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru). The last posts were in Paramythia (Aydonat) from 1898 to 1900 and Ioannina again in 1908/09. For 1900 to 1908 the lists have no entry.
