Life#
Mustafa Remzi Efendi was born in Ioannina (Yanya) in 1879/80 (AH 1297) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Mustafa Remzi began work in Skopje (Üsküp) in 1896/97, at about 16, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 380 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1899/1900, with Mustafa Remzi as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Mitrovica (Mitroviça), where the entries run to 1901/02. The last posts were in Pristina in 1902/03 and Prizren in 1903/04.
