Life#
İbrahim Hulusi Efendi was born in Silifke in 1872/73 (AH 1289) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a mayor (belediye reisi). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); İbrahim Hulusi also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
İbrahim Hulusi began work in the telegraph service (Telgraf) in Silifke in 1890/91, at about 18, with two unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 300 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1892/93 to 1894/95 places İbrahim Hulusi in Silifke, the birthplace, first as an official (Memur), from 1894/95 in the custody of the cash chest (Sandık Emaneti).
