Life#
Born in Novi Pazar (Yenipazar) in 1872/73 (AH 1289), Abdüssamed Salih Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Abdüssamed Salih had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), wrote Turkish and spoke Bulgarian, and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 17, in 1889/90, Abdüssamed Salih began work in Istanbul, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 75 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1892/93 to 1895/96 places Abdüssamed Salih in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Istanbul.
