Life#
Hasan Rasim Efendi was born in Edessa (Vodina) in 1862/63 (AH 1279), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 16, in 1878/79, Hasan Rasim began work in Vodine, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 285 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1883/84, with Hasan Rasim as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Serres (Siroz). Next came Ohrid (Ohri), Kurveles and Elassona (Alasonya) from 1885 to 1892, then Kuzukoy from 1892 to 1897. The last post was in Yayabogazi in 1897/98, with a rise to director of the second grade (2. Müdür).
The salary went from 285 kuruş a month in 1883/84 to 700 in 1897/98, the peak, as 2. Müdür in Yayabogazi, when four in five paid officials earned less. After the last annual entry, for 1897/98, the list of 1900/01 (AH 1318) gives the status word Vefat (death).
