Life#
Resmi Efendi was born in Zile in 1855/56 (AH 1272), into the Armenian Christian (Ermeni) community. Schooling took four years, at a community school (Millet Mektebi).
Work began in 1881/82, at about 26. The annual lists begin in 1882/83, with Resmi as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Samsun, where the entries run to 1890/91. The lists have no entry for 1891 to 1901. From 1901 to 1904 the annual entries place Resmi in Magora, with a rise to director of the third grade (3. Müdür).
Pay rose from 380 kuruş a month in 1882/83 to a peak of 600 in 1901/02, as 3. Müdür in Magora, when two in three paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1903/04; the list of 1904/05 (AH 1322) gives the status word Vefat (death).
