Life#
Born in Diyarbakır in 1866/67 (AH 1283), Mustafa Zeki Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Mustafa Zeki began work in Diyarbakır in 1881/82, at about 16, with one unpaid year as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 250 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1882/83 to 1903/04 places Mustafa Zeki in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Diyarbakır, the birthplace.
