Life#
Born in Van in 1878/79 (AH 1296), İbrahim Hakkı Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. İbrahim Hakkı had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 15, in 1893/94, İbrahim Hakkı began work in Van, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 250 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1896/97, places İbrahim Hakkı in Van, the birthplace, as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru), where the entries run to 1900/01. The last posts were in Malazgirt from 1902 to 1907, first as Muhabere Memuru, from 1906/07 as a director of the third grade (3. Müdür).
Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1896/97 to a peak of 600 in 1906/07, as 3. Müdür in Malazgirt, when 65 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1906/07.
