Born in Bitola (Manastır) in 1882/83 (AH 1300), Ali Sıdkı Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Ali Sıdkı had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).

Work began in Thessaloniki (Selanik) in 1904/05, at about 21, with one unpaid year as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 200 kuruş. From the first annual entry, for 1905/06, to 1907/08, every annual entry places Ali Sıdkı in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Thessaloniki.
