Life#
Born in Muğla in 1884/85 (AH 1302), Mehmet Faik Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took nine years, at a preparatory secondary school (İdadi Mektebi); Mehmet Faik also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Mehmet Faik began work in Yalova in 1902/03, at about 17, paid from the start, on 150 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1902/03, with Mehmet Faik as an official for written correspondence (Muharrerat Memuru) in Muğla, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1904/05, with a rise to communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in 1904/05. The last post was in Edirne in 1905/06.
