Life#
İbrahim Halil Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1866/67 (AH 1283) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
İbrahim Halil began work in Istanbul in 1886/87, at about 20, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1886/87, places İbrahim Halil in Istanbul, the birthplace, as a postal official (Posta Memuru). The annual lists then follow İbrahim Halil to Galata, Beşiktaş and Fatih from 1887 to 1900, with a rise to deliverer (Müvezzi) in 1888/89. For 1889 to 1899 the lists have no entry. The last posts were in Aksaray from 1900 to 1905.
