Life#
Hasan Tevfik Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1866/67 (AH 1283), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Hasan Tevfik began work in Istanbul in 1885/86, at about 19, paid from the start, on 500 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1885/86 to 1902/03 places Hasan Tevfik in the same post, central office official (Merkez Memuru), in Mabeyni humayun.
