Life#
Veysel Efendi was born in Sarajevo (Saraybosna) in 1878 (AH 1295), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 22, in 1900/01, Veysel began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. Both annual entries, for 1900/01 and 1901/02, place Veysel in Istanbul in the accounts office (Muhasebe Kalemi).
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 300 kuruş a month in 1900/01, in the Muhasebe Kalemi in Istanbul, when 18 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1901/02.
