Life#
Born in Beypazarı in 1850/51 (AH 1267) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Ahmet Hidayet Efendi was the child of an army major (binbaşı). Ahmet Hidayet had four years of schooling, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in Beypazarı in 1868/69, at about 17, with one unpaid year as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 400 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1869/70, with Ahmet Hidayet as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Beypazarı, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1871/72. Ahmet Hidayet then moved to Nallıhan from 1872 to 1875, then back to Beypazarı from 1875 to 1883. The annual lists then follow Ahmet Hidayet to Ankara from 1883 to 1885, then Karaman from 1885 to 1894. The lists have no entry for 1894 to 1896. The last posts were in Ereğli from 1896 to 1898.
