Life#
Mustafa Musli Efendi was born in Tirebolu in 1843/44 (AH 1259), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took 14 years, at the School of Medicine (Tıbbiye Mektebi); Mustafa Musli also wrote French as well as Turkish.
At about 26, in 1869/70, Mustafa Musli began work in the telegraph service (Telgraf) in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 150 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1869/70, with Mustafa Musli in the Ruznamce Kalemi in Istanbul. Mustafa Musli then moved to Beyoğlu in 1871/72, then back to Istanbul from 1872 to 1879, with a rise to Fransizca Muallimi. The annual lists then follow Mustafa Musli to Preveza (Preveze) from 1880 to 1888, then Parga and Salahora from 1889 to 1893, with a rise to 2. Rusumat Kaza Muduru in 1888/89. Next came a return to Parga from 1893 to 1897. The last posts were in Pilmar in 1897/98 and Van in 1902/03. The lists have no entry for 1898 to 1902.
