Life#
Born in Erzurum in 1872/73 (AH 1289), Ahmet Şükrü Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Ahmet Şükrü had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 18, in 1890/91, Ahmet Şükrü began work in Trabzon, with half a year without pay as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1890/91, places Ahmet Şükrü in Of as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru). The last posts were in Trabzon from 1892 to 1895.
