Life#
Mehmed Ferid Efendi was born in Babaeski (Baba-yı Atik) in 1851/52 (AH 1268) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took four years, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Mehmed Ferid began work in Babaeski in 1869/70, at about 17, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1878/79, with Mehmed Ferid as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Kırklareli. Mehmed Ferid then moved to Lüleburgaz from 1880 to 1883, then Keşan from 1883 to 1894. The last post was in Malkara in 1894/95, with a rise to director of the third grade (3. Müdür).
