Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1873/74 (AH 1290) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, İbrahim Feridun Efendi was the child of a finance director (mal müdürü). İbrahim Feridun had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 16, in 1889/90, İbrahim Feridun began work in the Muhasebe Kalemi in Istanbul, with three unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 100 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1892/93 to 1906/07 places İbrahim Feridun in the same office, accounts office (Muhasebe Kalemi), in Istanbul, the birthplace.
Pay rose from 100 kuruş a month in 1892/93 to a peak of 570 in 1905/06, in the Muhasebe Kalemi in Istanbul, when two in three paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1906/07.
