Life#
Hakkı Sıdkı Efendi was born in Rize in 1878/79 (AH 1296) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a teacher (muallim). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Hakkı Sıdkı began work in Rize in 1896/97, at about 17, with six unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 300 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1902/03, with Hakkı Sıdkı as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Ulutepe. The last posts were in Preveza (Preveze) and Gjirokastër (Ergiri) from 1903 to 1906 and Süleymanlı (Zeytun) in 1906/07.
